Swale is a local government district with borough status in Kent, England. The council is based in Sittingbourne, the borough's largest town. The borough also contains the towns of Faversham, Queenborough and Sheerness, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas.  Swale declared climate emergency in June 2019.

Square Gain supported Swale Borough Council with several commissions, including the development of the Swale Climate Action Plan, producing guidance on the council’s Climate Change Planning Condition, and acting as an expert witness on climate change on behalf of the council as part of two planning inquiries.  On both occasions the Planning Inspector agreed with the climate change case that was put forward by Square Gain.

"Over the last year, we have engaged Square Gain to assist us with several discreate projects as part of our climate and air quality workstreams.  We are delighted with the way Square Gain has supported Swale and how they we have engaged with the officers to encourage ownership and deliver positive outcomes that have exceeded our expectations."
